Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday rendered his account of stewardship revealing that efforts geared towards stabilising the finances of the state has saved about N3billion monthly. Addressing residents, party chieftains, traditional rulers and top government officials at the maiden edition of the quarterly Town Hall meeting at Abesan Mini Stadium, Lagos, Governor Ambode said one of his first key tasks on assumption of office was to stabilize the finances of the State. He said his administration embarked on financial re- engineering and reviewed the revenue and expenditure framework of the State coupled with the realignment of Ministries, Departments and Agencies. “This has provided us with more funds to inject into capital projects and the initial funds to establish the Employment Trust Fund which we promised our youths,”, he said. A former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, said on Tuesday that his nomination as a minister by President Muhammadu Buhari came as a surprise. The ex-governor said he didn’t anticipate his inclusion in the President’s ministerial list. He told journalists at the All Progress Congress (APC) National Secretariat that although he was with President Buhari till about 4:00pm on the day the list was submitted to the Senate President, the President never mentioned it to him that he was being considered for appointment. President Buhari today paid a visit to the victims of the Abuja twin bomb blasts which happened on Friday night October 2nd. He visited the Trauma Centre of the National Hospital where he interacted with some of the victims. He wished them speedy recovery and reassured them that the Federal Government will take full responsibility for settling their medical bills. He directed his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari to settle the N268,790.00 medical bill of a young girl in the Paediatric Ward of the hospital. The girl’s mother, Deborah Stephen, had broken into tears on seeing President Buhari. She told him that her daughter had been shot by armed robbers who raided their home and that the family could not afford the medical bills.
